Super Saver Shrubs

Our Early Bird Super Saver Shrub offers are a fantastic opportunity for you to add more variety, depth, structure and beauty to your borders and patio containers.

There is definitely nothing shabby when it comes to shrubs! They really provide the backbone to any garden planting scheme. There is a shrub to suit every location and situation! A plethora of varieties offer sizes, shapes, colour and scents to meet every possible taste and planting scheme.

We have a huge selection in all four of our centres, with stunning foliage, flowers and fruits that can thrive in sun or shade, and most are adaptable to a wide variety of well-drained soils.

Our Early Bird featured shrubs include our 1 Litre Plant Offers ‘pick & mix’ on evergreen and deciduous shrubs and are true favourites.

Highlights include the spring flowering Photinia ‘Little Red Robin’ with its striking foliage and produces a display in April-May. This shrub, alongside Pieris Japonica ‘Little Heath’ and Choisya ternata ‘Brica’ are easy-to-care for evergreen shrubs with very little maintenance required.

Hydrangeas are one of the most beautiful and popular shrubs and can grow in almost every climate and you’ll get displays through three seasons: bright flowers in summer, fading tones in autumn and dried blooms that linger over the winter months. Hydrangea paniculata ‘Phantom’ is a beautiful variety with white florets, fading to pale pink.

If you love fragrance, you’ll love Philadelphus ‘Snowbelle’. Beautiful sprays of double, white, very fragrant blooms abound in early summer. Part of the Hydrangea family, they make a wonderful addition to any cottage, courtyard and city gardens.

Our selected larger 2/3 Litre pot size shrubs are usually from £17.99 each, but with the Early Bird Sale they are now just £5.99 each. Tremendous savings on super shrubs…

We have three varieties of Pittosporum, all ideal for wall side borders, hedging and screens and good for cottage and coastal gardens too. ‘Tom Thumb’ is as the name suggests a small evergreen with a slow-growing maximum height of 1m, featuring deep purple, undulate leaves and flowers in spring and summer. ‘Elizabeth’ will grow up to 4m with wavy-edged grey-green leaves bordered with cream and flushed pink tones in all seasons, flowering early summer with a royal shade of dark purple scented star-shaped flowers. ‘Gold Star’ is a compact shrub, growing up to 2.5m with small, fragrant dark maroon flowers appearing in spring.

All varieties of Weigela in 2 or 3 litre pots are included in the Early Bird offers. Some reach up to 3m in height with matt-green leaves, or some varieties have bronze, purple or variegated foliage with cream edges. All have gorgeous trumpet shaped flowers that appear in May and June, and some again in autumn, mostly in white, pinks, reds and purples and yellow, which is especially popular with bees!

Adding drama from spring to autumn, the purplish-black foliage of Sambucus ‘Black Lace’ provides a lacy effect backdrop to borders, growing up to 4m, with an abundance of tiny fragrant pinkish flowers in summer and purple-black berries in autumn.

Berberis ‘Orange Rocket’ supplies a burst of colour throughout the year, from their stems, right through to their foliage, flowers and fruits! Growing to just 1.2m high, it packs a punch with spiny, dark red-brown stems and leaves which turn from green in summer to rusty orange-red in autumn and small scented yellow or orange flowers in spring, followed by bright red fruits in late summer/autumn.

Also packing a punch of fine colour are all our varieties of coloured stem Cornus, also known commonly as Dogwood. Vigorous, deciduous shrubs, with stems, foliage and berries to put on a show all year round.

Intense colour from April to May can be added with the stunning amethyst-blue of Ceanothus ‘Blue Jeans’, otherwise known as Californian Lilac. With a height of 1.5m and spread up to 2.5m a visual delight in any sunny border, clusters of the beautiful blooms appear freely on this vigorous evergreen.
