- Sow in trays, pots, etc of good seed compost in a propagator or warm place to maintain an optimum temperature of 20-30°C (70-85F). Sowing Depth: 6mm (¼in). Sowing Time: February to May. Soak seeds in hand hot water for 2 hours, if the seeds are large they can first be lightly filed at one point on the seed before soaking.
- Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots. Harden off and plant out when all risk of frost has passed.
- Protect in severe weather with a covering of leaf mould, etc. Prefers a well drained soil. Can also be grown in a 25-3cm (1-12in) pot in a cool greenhouse or conservatory.
