  • A rhizomatous perennial to 75cm tall, with deeply lobed basal leaves. In summer it produces stiff, unbranched stems bearing pure white, satin-petalled flowers.
  • Foliage: Deciduoous. Habit: Clump-forming.
  • Position: Full sun or partial shade. Aspect: South- or west-facing.
  • Soil: Loam or sand. Moisture: Moist but well-drained. pH: Acid or neutral.
  • Ultimate height: 0.5-1m. Time to ultimate height: 2-5 years. Ultimate spread: 0.1-0.5m.
  • Propagate by division, or by sowing seed in containers in a cold frame in autumn or spring. Deadhead to prolong flowering. May be susceptible to rust diseases. Suggested planting locations: Cottages and informal gardens, wildlife gardens, low-maintenance, or flower borders and beds.
