- Enkan' is a rounded, deciduous shrub or small tree with with palmate, bronze to maroon leaves divided into five linear to narrowly lance-shaped, toothed lobes, the entire leaf turning bright red in autumn. Inconspicuous, green flowers in spring are followed by winged, red-flushed, green seed pods
- Grow in moderately fertile moist but well-drained soil in full sun; will tolerate partial shade but foliage colour best in a sunny location

A lovely little palmatum variety with wine-red deeply lobed foliage in the spring turning into bright shades of red in the autumn.Very similar to the variety 'Red Pygmy' but holds it's colour better in the summer months. Perfect for small gardens or planting in a large container. ery easy to grow in a wide range of well-drained soils. They thrive in sun but with partial shade to protect the leaves from scorch. A sheltered area away from strong winds is preferred.
