Air Display Talks

11:00 - 15:00

An exciting day planned with Spitfire Pilot, Clive Denny opening proceedings with his Meet the Pilot talk (£10 per person) before clive takes to the skies at 3pm with an exclusive Spitfire Air Display especially for Coolings.

Bob Ogley joins us at 2pm with his 'Spitfires at Biggin Hill' talk (£10 per person).  Bob Ogley is a former editor of The Sevenoaks Chronicle,  and was a journalist for more than 30 years before he left his newspaper to concentrate on writing more than 20 books and giving his talks. He is also a regular broadcaster on BBC Radio Kent.

Bob has travelled extensively in pursuit of information and photographs and is in great demand from organisations across the south-east to tell his unique story.

Bob covers a range of topics in his talks from War in Kent (and Surrey), the History of RAF Biggin Hill, to Doodlebugs and Rocket and his life as a local newspaper reporter.  Today Bob will be focusing on the Spitfires of Biggin Hill. Bob likes to tell humorous stories and he has an amazing collection of anecdotes which he delivers with great enthusiasm.

Both talks are £10 per person and must be pre booked on 01959 532269.

The Spitfire Air Display is a FREE display and can be enjoyed by all visiting Coolings at 3pm!

Horticultural Show 2017

10:00 - 16:00

Our Horticultural Show is now in it's 5th year and it's your chance to show us what you can do!

Whether you want to enter something for yourself or just pop along and peruse the entries, this is always a fun, popular day at Coolings. We are also looking forward to welcoming the winner of the BBC The Big Allotment Challenge 2016, Rob Smith as he will be here for the day of the show for you all to meet.

It is your opportunity to see the best that Kent's Horticultural Societies have to offer in categories ranging from flowers, fruit and vegetables to cakes.

You may even want to enter something for yourself. Maybe you make a mean cake, have grown a prize winning marrow, are creative with flowers, have a keen eye for photography, or maybe you are crafty/enjoy painting - then enter your creations into the appropriate category.

We'd love to see them and you may even earn yourself a prize!

This year's show is on Saturday 30th September 2017 and will be open to the public from 12 noon, so if you have a love of gardening and want to peruse some of the best produce kent has to offer this is the perfect opportunity.

If you are inspired to enter something for yourself then please download this year's schedule here
