- Best grown as a half-hardy annual. Sow February-April under glass for flowers July-September.
- Sow thinly at about 18C (65F) in a greenhouse or on a windowsill in trays or pots using a good-quality seed compost.
- Cover the seeds lightly, germination is usually 14-21 days.
- Prick out the seedlings 5cm (2") apart into seed trays and grow on in good light.
- Plant out late May/early June 45cm (18") apart after hardening off.
- To flower earlier in a season, treat as a biennial by sowing in boxes, or in a seedbed during the summer and plant out in sutumn/early spring.
