Description
Description
Known as Cheals Weeping Cherry, Prunus 'Kiku-shidare-zakura' is one of the smallest weeping Cherry Blossom trees around and is ideal for small spaces or container growing. Despite its compact size, 'Kiku-shidare-zakura' offers a stunning display of large, deep-pink, double flowers that are almost spherical and up to 4cm wide. In addition to the magnificent flowers in April-May, bronzed new foliage turns a glossy green before reclaiming hints of bronze and orange in the autumn. Prunus 'Kiku-shidare-zakura' grows to an estimated height and spread of just 3 x 3 metres in 20 years and has arching, pendulous branches. A tough little tree, Cheals Weeping Cherry is tolerant of pollution and copes with most soils except damp or chalky, shallow conditions.
