Sunset Boulevard is a tall flowering cherry that grows with a very upright vertical (fastigiate) form. The side-branches remain fairly short and grow sharply upwards from the central stem. The overall effect is similar to a champagne flute. The spring blossom consists of relatively large single white flowers with pink centres. The compact form and height make Sunset Boulevard a popular street and amenity tree, but it is well worth considering as a focal point in a larger garden. It also makes an impressive sight when used to line a long driveway.
