  • 'Proteus' is a deciduous climber to 2.5m tall with rose-purple semi- or fully double flowers produced in early summer followed by a flush of single flowers from late summer into early autumn.
  • Foliage: Deciduous. Habit: Climbing.
  • Position: Full sun or partial shade.
  • Soil: Chalk, clay, loam, or sand. Moisture: Moist but well-drained. pH: Alkaline or neutral.
  • Ultimate height: 1.5-2.5m. Time to ultimate height: 2-5 years. Ultimate spread: 0.5-1m.
  • Flowers again in late summer. An early large-flowered climber.

A large-flowered climber with light green leaves. Double pink flowers, paler to the centre with cream anthers in May-June. Flowers again in late summer but single. H&S: 2-3m x 1m. Fertile, well drained soil in sunor part shade.
