The results are in…In Bloom uncovers amazing local talent once again

A- | A+

This year’s local ‘In Bloom’ competition has once again uncovered a wealth of green fingered talent within our community. For those of you that are unaware of the competition, every year the RHS runs ‘Britain in Bloom’ in an effort to direct focus onto the value of plants and their impact on our community. Although this is a national competition it's organised into regions for ease and local relevance, so the South East is a region, as is London. Essentially, it is a community gardening competition designed to help transform areas ranging from small villages to large towns, into better places to live and work.

At a more local level Coolings sponsor and even run a number of competitions where people can enter a number of categories from a planted pot through front and back gardens to community projects, including schools, churchyards, shared accommodation gardens etc. Sometimes, these competitions are designed to assist a formal entry into the RHS competition.

This year Coolings were proud supporters of local In Bloom competitions within Greenwich, Bromley, Edenbridge, Sevenoaks District, Sevenoaks Town, Swanley, Tonbridge and Royal Tunbridge Wells. In each case we have partnered with the Local Authorities or other organisations to administer, judge and provide rewards for the competitions.

Coolings have been avid supporters of this popular community gardening competition since the 1970s and is just one of the many ways we support our local area, engage with local residents and share the joy of gardening. The beauty of the competition is that gardeners from all abilities can enter and discover the pleasure of cultivating something beautiful for themselves and others to enjoy.
Coolings Events Manager and In Bloom judge adds “Once again, it’s been an enormous privilege to help judge the In Bloom competition this year. I and the other judges have been taken aback by the standard of entries, sometimes in the most unexpected of places! We’ve had an increase in numbers of entries once again this year and hope very much to see new faces again in 2018”.

On Saturday 29th July we hosted an awards ceremony where entrants from all the regions supported were invited to celebrate their entries, the hard work involved and of course, to find out who won!
There were some fantastic entries and we are pleased to announced the winners in each of our supported areas:

Some villages and towns will now apply to enter the wider competition of South East In Bloom. This is part of the overall RHS Britain in Bloom competition, giving the opportunity to compete against other entries in the region, with the best regional winners potentially being invited to compete at national level! Good luck to everyone who goes further in the competition.

Well done to everyone who entered, especially to all our winners!

We are looking forward to next year already!
