With more people than ever growing their own in 2010 it’s important to give your plants the right nutrients to help them thrive. Two such fertilisers that no gardener should be without are Tomorite from Levington and a new product, Organic Potato Fertiliser from Vitax.

Tomorite is an age proven product and is probably the most favoured liquid feed. It is a high potash feed containing seaweed extracts and magnesium. The nutrients promote good healthy growth and a high yield of quality full flavoured tomatoes. Being such a versatile product, Tomorite is also perfect for other food crops such as sweet peppers and aubergines. Also, flowering pot plants benefit from a high potash feed. For use in a glasshouse or outdoors, in a pot, grow bag or the ground.

Potatoes, a plant that more of us are starting to try in our gardens. Vitax have formulated an Organic Potato Fertiliser which has been carefully balanced for the sustained growth of potato tubers, which will increase your potato harvest. Can be used with potato barrels and other planters, and is also recommended for use with other vegetable crops. A granular feed applied as a top dressing as per instructions.

So whatever you choose to grow this year, give them a helping hand with a fertiliser and you’ll be harvesting the rewards when it comes to dinner time.
