Now is the time for those of you who have time and space to start preparing for a wonderful colourful summer display. We will be stocking a great variety of plug plants, including a few new introductions to the Plug u Gro range. At Coolings we are always looking to supply the very best quality plants and our young plants are no exception.
This year for the first time the plugs will be available in trays of smaller quantities, making them more economical when choosing colour combinations. As soon as possible after purchase these little plants will need to be potted on into individual pots or into cell trays to ensure they are given a really good start. Plug plants are grown in their own cell compost and have a well-developed root-system making them easy to handle. All of the young plants should be protected from frost until mid May. We also recommend that Coolings Professional potting compost is used. The plug plants are great for the more inexperienced gardener as it removes the uncertain germination stage.
As well as the usual range of plugs from Plug u Gro, who always include several new varieties each year, we also offer a limited range of larger plugs of the more popular plants; these are stronger plugs which will establish quicker. We will also have a great selection of young plants suitable for planting in patio pots and hanging baskets. These include many Fuchsias/Geraniums in upright and trailing varieties to suit any planting scheme, not forgetting the numerous miscellaneous plants including Verbenas and Diascias.
Do you want to grow your own vegetables? Peppers, chillies, tomatoes and a small selection of herbs will also be available in the Veg u Grow range. Open Sow Grow seed kits are a new product available this season; this is a selection of pots containing all you need to grow for individual varieties of herbs and vegetables. They have many advantages, economical, space saving and easy to use. If you have never tried to grow your own produce this is the ideal and fun way to have a go. They are designed to appeal to all ages and abilities both novice and serious gardeners alike.
