Coolings entry scoops Silver at RHS Chelsea 2017!

Following on from last year’s success with “The Sunflower Square”, the Horticultural Trade Association (HTA) unveiled their industry showcase garden “40 Sunbury Road” at RHS Chelsea Flower Show this week. Once again, this exhibit ran in conjunction with Peter Seabrook and The Sun newspaper and we are pleased to report that it won Silver!

“40 Sunbury Road” is a celebration of Peter’s 40 years working at the newspaper and the theme is a typical but modest suburban back garden. It is the first back garden to be displayed in the Grand Pavilion at the show. The objective of the project was to create a typical modest suburban back garden that consumers can relate to, whilst at the same time inspire and provide some new and interesting ideas that could easily be copied.

The garden contains a patio area, hanging baskets and containers, a wildlife area, a shed, greenhouse and living walls. The containers and hanging baskets include bedding and container plants grown by HTA members – garden centres (including us!), growers and seed trade. There is also an area grown by schools which includes vegetables and wildlife friendly plants.

This year, Coolings have entered another hanging basket into the “40 Sunbury Road” exhibit and we are delighted to be apart of the fabulous garden and to scoop Silver.

Our entry, boasts beautiful upright Fuchsia ‘Sarah’ as its centrepiece, surrounded by single deep red ivy leaf Geraniums, variegated green leaf trailing Nepeta, blue Bacopa, Euphorbia ‘Diamond Frost’ and a few trixi mix in mauve dotted in between.  The basket was potted up with Coolings Professional Compost mixed with some Swellgel and some slow release, granular fertiliser ‘Osmocote’. Good job Coolings Nursery Team!

PLUS, to top it all off it is hanging above the plant of the year winner – Mulberry Bush Charlotte Russe! You can see it in all its full glory below playing centre stage to Peter Seabrook and Sophie the Countess of Wessex!

Many congratulations to the Horticultural Trades Association (HTA) and The Association of Professional Landscapers (APL) who put “40 Sunbury Road” together,
